We were focused on sea urchins exoskeleton “Echinus esculentus” and the study of her natural material and structural build process. The Věra and Vladimír Machonin exhibition had several reasons to be set up. A successful project of the summer festival dedicated to public space, architecture and land art continues this summer. Exhibitions, installations and accompanying programs will be held from June 8 to September 27 again at the Žižkov freight railway station and the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery, which organizes the Landscape Festival Prague 2015. Recently there joined the municipal part of Prague 6. The festival is under the auspices of the Minister of Culture Daniel Herman and Deputy Mayor of the city of Prague Matěj Stropnický.

Vlna modernistického hnutí v architektuře usilovala ve 20. století o přestavbu měst pro věk strojů. Jednalo se o období velkých urbanistických záměrů. Le Corbusier, jako jeden z ideových vůdců hnutí, předložil vlastní urbanistickou koncepci soudobého města, které se zaměřovalo na řešení fungování čtyř oblastí: bydlení,  práce, rekreace a dopravy. The conference is organized by the Faculty of Arts and Architecture TU Liberec and by the association Architectura and it is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the Czech Republic national budget.

The lecture will address two processes of transformation in the socio-spatial organisation of cities in the post-communist period. Firstly, it will focus on the process of suburbanisation and the formation of the urban region through the integration of places of residence, workplaces, services and entertainment, interconnecting the city core with its growing suburban zone. The second part will discuss the issues of residential segregation, in particular the formation of the closed parallel worlds of social groups.

The exhibition of the Gallery of Modern Art in New York in Jaroslav Fragner Gallery is the presentation of the pedagogical approach LabArch A3 studio at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. The directors of this studio are from the autumn 2011 prof. akad. arch. Imrich Vaško and MgA. Martin Gsandtner, M.Sc. 

exhibiting architecture -  When we attempt to exhibit architecture we can do so relatively easily with projects, or with unrealized buildings. According to this scenario we can aim to convey a kind of basic architectural idea, a set of concepts, parameters, data. But once a building is built, presenting it becomes more of a problem. What is the material that serves to represent, is exhibited of, a (real) building? What do we show of it?

The opening of site-specific objects of the Intermedia Work Studio II of Jiří Příhoda at AFA was held within the Bethlehem Cultural Night that was the final part of the Open Air Arena Bethlehem Place festival.

“Contemporary Norwegian Architecture # 7” is the latest in a succession of reviews of contemporary Norwegian architecture. For 35 years Michael Reynolds has been constructing houses from old tyres, tins and pet bottles. His houses are energetically self-sufficient, they have a source of water, heating and drainage. At the beginning Reynolds was facing many bureaucratic obstacles in America because of his original architecture approach. He lost his licence of architect for several years.

In the association with CTU and other cultural institutions near the Bethlehem Place the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery prepared a summer project Open Air Arena Bethlehem Place that aims to liven up this public space.

“Eduardo Souto Moura – Competitions” – displays 50 works are being shown which have been prepared for competitions over the last 31 years, from 1979 and 2010.

Ecologic. This one word is a key term for about eighty projects from designs to realisations that re presented in the gallery of the National Technical Library as a part of the Green Architecture II since February 3 till February 28. The second part of a popular project that is initiated by the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery and that became a series of year-long events. This time it joins three exhibition presentations. The Prague exhibition presents the most interesting projects and documents their non-orthodox approach to projecting that was also to be seen the competition realisation project for the Černá louka area in Ostrava, but also on their authorial presentation on the Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2008.

The Buildings and Projects exhibition presents three recent projects of three important architecture studios in Brno that mark many places of the Czech Republic by its typical style. The interest of the Bow-Wow studio leads to various fields from architecture design o city planning research and creation of artistic works for public space. The studio projected about 20 houses, public museums and commercial buildings, mostly in Tokio.

What was the role of architecture in a complete change of Japanese society? What stresses and pressures did it meet during the democratisation process? How did it help emancipate the individuals to end up as a consumption product or a transmitter of media or commercial contains?

During February till the beginning of April 2011 the Czech society will be presented the exhibition of House Behaviorology by the Japanese studio Bow-Wow that were prepared for the Venice Architecture Biennale 2010 (during last three years this studio exhibited three times in Venice!!!). Due to a big positive response the exhibition has not returned to Tokio yet and will be seen in Prague and Copenhagen.

The Jaroslav Fragner Gallery sustains also important Czech personalities next to presentation of Czech and foreign architecture. The Věra and Vladimír Machonin exhibition had several reasons to be set up. Since 70s this professional and personal couple were restricted in their architecture and publication activities so their works as the Kotva shopping centre, the Housing Culture Centre or the Thermal spa hotel are almost unknown to wider public.
